Below is a listing of global research initiatives that address concepts related to statelessness, including birth registration and nationality law. Several organisations provide country by country analyses of situations of statelessness in robust online databases. 


United Stateless
United Stateless is a national organization in the United States led by stateless people whose mission is to build and inspire community among those affected by statelessness, and to advocate for their human rights. Website


Regional Organisations
Americas Network on Nationality and Statelessness
The Americas Network on Nationality and Statelessness is a network of civil society organizations, academic initiatives, and individual experts committed to address statelessness in the Americas. We believe that all human beings have a right to a nationality and that those who lack nationality altogether – stateless persons – are entitled to adequate protection. Website

Central Asian Network on Statelessness 
The Central Asian Network on Statelessness was established in 2016 with support from UNHCR as the platform for a direct and effective dialogue for the exchange of information and experience on prevention and reduction of statelessness in the region. CANS includes 11 members representing from five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan). Website

The Statelessness Network Asia Pacific 
SNAP is a civil society coalition with the goal of promoting collaboration on addressing statelessness in Asia and the Pacific. Website

European Network on Statelessness 
An open and growing network for organisations with an active interest in statelessness, the European Network on Statelessness (ENS) is a civil society alliance committed to address statelessness in Europe. Users can browse resources by country, theme or resource type using the filters provided. ENS also provides capacity building support services including online learning and customised training courses.

UNHCR Canada - Activities and Resources
The Activities and Resources section of UNHCR Canada aims to provide a consolidated view of all major activities undertaken by UNHCR Canada. It is an information tool for our partners and for other individuals who wish to follow UNHCR Canada's work. Included are resources on statelessness, Canadian citizenship law, and detention. UNHCR - Refworld
Resources covering statelessness globally are available on UNHCR's Refworld Statelessness site. Users can search by country, document type, and keyword. This site provides UNHCR legal documents, reports and conclusions on statelessness, and a database of country citizenship and nationality laws.

Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion
The Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion aims to serve as a partner who builds connections between people concerned about and/or are affected by statelessness and disenfranchisement and to act as a catalyst for change. The Institute is committed to the establishment and maintenance of an online, global platform for outreach, networking, exchange of information and ideas on statelessness.

Global Movement Against Statelessness
The Global Movement Against Statelessness is a community of stateless people, activists and civil society allies dedicated to the eradication of statelessness and the achievement of equal nationality rights for all and the human rights of all stateless people. Website

StateFree is an organisation that works to empower stateless people and create belonging through community, visibility and equal rights. Website

Open Society Justice Initiative
Open Society Justice Initiative has published a Community-Based Practitioner's Guide: Documenting Citizenship & Other Forms of Legal Identity.

Equal Rights Trust
The Equal Rights Trust is an independent international organisation whose purpose is to combat discrimination and promote equality as a fundamental human right and a basic principle of social justice. Website

Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights
Equality Now, the Equal Rights Trust, Institute on Statelessness and Inclusion, UNHCR, UN Women and the Women’s Refugee Commission have formed a steering committee to lead the Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights. The campaign aims to eliminate gender discrimination in nationality laws. Website


Databases
Global Citizenship Observatory
An online observatory committed to fact-based and non-partisan analysis of citizenship laws and electoral rights around the world. Website

Migrant Integration Policy Index  
The MIPEX is a comprehensive tool which can be used to assess, compare and improve integration policy. It provides up-to-date, comprehensive research data and analysis on which to base policies, proposals for change, and projects to achieve equality in their country. The MIPEX includes 31 countries in order to provide a view of integration policies across a broad range of differing environments.

The European Network on Statelessness has developed a Statelessness Case Law Database which contains summaries of national and regional case law covering Europe, as well as international jurisprudence. The Network has also developed a Statelessness Index which evaluates select European countries on their efforts on to combat statelessness.
