Research
Research is an important tool in the fight against statelessness. Research is used in legal challenges, the design and delivery of social programs, and as a tool to better inform societies about the lived realities of others.
CCS seeks to advance evidence-based policy alternatives through community-based and participatory research initiatives, and to create awareness of issues related to statelessness that are under-researched including belonging, inclusion, access to services, mental health, employment and housing. Living without a nationality affects every aspect of a stateless person's life, and CCS aims to make these issues visible through innovative, inter-disciplinary research initiatives. CCS partners with organisations to produce high-quality, ethical, and participatory research as it relates to statelessness and nationality in Canada. These include academic institutions, health organisations, and local service providers and community partners.
Involving stateless persons and people affected by statelessness in the conversation is imperative. Including stateless voices in CCS research initiatives is crucial, and consulting stateless voices in the design of research initiatives is ideal.
